Microsoft SoftGrid
Microsoft SoftGrid enables an application
to be packaged so that it is delivered into a virtual
software environment. This effectively means that the
software is not actually installed on the PC or Server
but is delivered from an SQL database to the client
into a virtual environment. There are obvious benefits
to this such as incompatible applications can now run
side by side, terminal server farms do not need all
applications installing for them to be able to run in
fact a terminal farm only needs the operating system
and softgrid to start delivering all applications immediately.
Cardium have also developed
a program for Citrix that will allow a server to have
all applications published to the Citrix server in one
click without having to use the Citrix Management Console.
This can be tailored to anyone's Citrix environment.
