manufacturer. This means we are well placed to give unbiased
opinions on the best hardware solution for your company.
In the past we have attended hardware presentations on behalf
of customers and advised on the best solution based on the
information given from hardware vendors such as Dell, HP and
IBM.
The design and construction of large, fault tolerant server
systems can be a complex task. Consideration must be given
to the performance of the servers required for a specific
task, the importance of data held on the servers, fault tolerance,
and physical placement of the servers.

We have extensive experience in the specification of fault-tolerant
systems, including multi-disk RAID implementations, Windows
2003 cluster solutions, use of redundant power supplies/UPS,
backup solutions and strategies, and load balancing between
servers. We also recognise that the installation of multiple
server systems, usually in a dedicated server room, can represent
a significant investment to your company.
Additionally we have worked with storage consultants from
EMC to implement clustered Microsoft Solutions on their storage
area networks.
Cardium have implemented a high availability SQL 2005 solution
using Microsoft Windows 2003 server and clustering.
Cardium Solutions can help you manage this investment, by
planning efficient configurations for rack mounted servers
and backup devices, using dedicated rack system design tools,
advise on the use of blade servers for web farms and citrix
farms, to maximise rack space usage and provide accurate cost
estimates.
Finally, the physical specification and construction
of servers and racks should not be overlooked. The options
available when ordering a server solution run into the thousands,
and many components will not work together. Also, servers
and racks often arrive on site as a kit of parts, rather than
the assembled article that the customer may have been expecting!
With this in mind, Cardium Solutions will carefully plan your
installation, ensuring that all the correct parts are specified
for each server solution.
