The most
important (and usually most difficult aspect) of any
new infrastructure implementation is maintaining access
to data at all times during the migration period. Cardium
have a tried and tested methodology that ensures that
no matter where you are in the migration process you
will always have access to company data be that either
shared date or users personal data (home directory).
The process also takes into account options to rollback
to the previous solution which ensures that should issues
occur during the migration the live systems can be pointed
back at the previous data and refreshed if required.
It is important that applications are installed on a
system that has been configured correctly. For example
a server that is built for an email solution will be
inherently different from a server that is built to
host a SQL server database, both in terms of the hardware
requirements and the Windows 2003 operating system configuration.
It is not sufficient to install the
operating system defaults and expect everything to work
satisfactorily. Other considerations around network
protocols, network speeds, LAN and WAN connectivity
have to be considered before even attempting to install
an application. More importantly, with the arrival of
directory services (Active Directory), the whole server
infrastructure design can now be based around your organisations
current and future requirements.
With Microsoft's Active Directory Service complete dependence
on DNS, the ability to understand (in-depth) the nuances
of DNS are a must. With Microsoft servers, Cardium's
ability to understand the "bigger picture"
ensure that a server design will allow your computer
systems to scale with your company as and when required.
Cardium Solutions have many
years of experience in configuring and installing Windows
NT server, having used the very early release of NT
3.1 through Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 and
beta releases of Windows 2008
